The Ministries of First Baptist

We firmly believe one way to carry out God's Word is to get involved in the community. The following is a partial list of ministries First Baptist Church is involved in.

Adult Ministries

Many people at First Baptist have made a life-changing discovery – getting connected to other people in the church is what made the difference in their spiritual growth. They have found, first hand, that a successful Christian life is one lived in community with one another.

The purpose of our Adult Ministry is to equip and empower adults to grow spiritually, personally and professionally through the work of the Holy Spirit into fully developing followers of Christ. We offer Adult Fellowships Groups on Sunday mornings, as well as various group social events.

Angel View

For several years, we have had the privilege of serving those who are under-privileged and in the care of various assistance programs. Our teens will often be found ministering to those at the Angel View Crippled Children's Facilities through teaching, fellowship, and music. For more information about ways you could be involved in this ministry, contact Student Pastor Larry Gatlin, Jr. at 345.8505.

Children's Ministries

At FBC, we have classes for all ages! We value the privilege of teaching children and believe in the importance of teaching them that God cares for them. Every program at First Baptist is specifically designed to help your child have fun, make friends, and learn more about God's love. There are weekly opportunities for your child to attend.

On Sundays at 9 a.m. we offer safe, fun, and nurturing classroom environments where your child will sing songs, eat snacks, win prizes and hear a Bible lesson. At 10:15 a.m., all children are invited to The Clubhouse where they rally together for a time of fun and learning! Your child will enjoy skits, games, prizes and Bible stories.

Wednesday nights will never be the same! Each Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. children, ages 4 to 11, are invited to join in the fun of our Master Clubs program. It is a fun-filled, energy-packed program designed to encourage your child to make new friends, to grow, and to learn about God's love! Contact Pastor Jimmy Olsen at 345.8505.

Community Outreach

We believe that the Great Commission was given to every believer. Community Outreach is simply that...a ministry that provides an avenue of reaching out to our community through personal evangelism. We offer weekly training and mentoring in this area as a means to fulfill the goal of “every member a minister”. For more information about this outreach opportunity, contact us at 345.8505.

Discipleship

The discipleship ministry here at First Baptist is focused on helping people discover the life-changing truths of Jesus Christ. Our goal is to equip each believer to become a committed follower of Jesus Christ through an understanding of what the Scriptures teach us to know, be, and do. To find out how you can benefit from this life-changing ministry, contact us at 345.8505.

Ladies' Ministries

FBC has an exciting and unique ladies' ministry. We believe it is important to build lasting friendships, learn practical and helpful ways to be a better wife, mother, and friend. Most importantly, as we grow together, our desire is to help you learn more about God and His purpose for your life.

Here at First Baptist, ladies enjoy many different activities including Spa Nights, Ladies' Night Out, Ladies' Retreats, banquets, and more! Whether you are single, newly married, widowed, or have an empty nest; whether you have a career in the workplace or are a stay-at-home mom, there is a place for you! To "get connected", get in touch with Rebecca Dickey, our Ladies Ministry leader, at 345.8505.

Operation Christmas Child

Operation Christmas Child is the largest children's Christmas outreach in the world. Shoe boxes that have been filled with toys, clothing items, school supplies and other small gifts are delivered to over 100 countries that have been wracked by war, poverty, and disaster. Each shoebox also includes Christian literature in the child's own language. Contact Children's Pastor Jimmy Olsen at 345.8505 for more information.

World Missions

While approximately two-thirds of the world's population has never heard the message of God's love, we feel a great responsibility to "send the light". Jesus Christ said, "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel." The Apostle Paul said, "Awake...for some have not the knowledge of God."

Here at FBC, we place a major emphasis on global evangelism. Our church family participates in world-wide missions by giving hundreds of dollars to support missionaries on a monthly basis, by sending missionaries from our own church family to other countries, and by assisting various missionaries with special projects. To learn more about this global ministry or to discover how you can have a part in world missions, get in touch with us at 345.8505.
